The ʻŌiwi Edge Innovation Process provides haumāna the opportunity to engage their agency and solve real-world problems impacting our lāhui. Through inquiry and critical thinking, haumāna define and investigate problems, analyze, evaluate and synthesize information, develop creative, informed, culturally grounded solutions, and present and defend their work to subject matter experts. Implementing the user-driven, non-linear learning that the ʻŌiwi Edge Innovation Process provides helps haumāna to shape and manage their learning in order to develop crucial mindsets, grounding, and skills they need to solve the worldʻs greatest problems.

In this pathway, our HK researchers & designers will teach instructional strategies on how to….

 

• Cultivate curiosity & inquiry through issues-based learning experiences focused on meeting the needs of ʻāina and kanaka.

• Gather and analyze information from responsible sources using an ʻAe Kai to Kahiki perspective

​

• Build ownership, clarity, & self-efficacy in learning by

  • Co-constructing criteria with haumāna

  • Modeling mindful synthesis of key findings 

  • And facilitating the ideation, iteration, testing, and refinement of prototypes to innovate culturally grounded & critically conscious solutions

• Prepare haumāna to engage with and seek feedback from a network of subject matter experts

• Guide them on how to mobilize their voice to bring awareness and action around their topics to lāhui and global audiences
