Come join us this summer as we delve deeper into instructional content and prepare for next school year. All summer professional development will focus on the ‘Ōiwi Edge Learning and Teaching Expectations, instructional technology integration, and deepening understanding of instructional strategies. Kumu and Counselors can choose the option of B credit or summer stipend pay. All classes are synchronous and asynchronous with great flexibility for the learner.

Spend time integrating important concepts for next school year.
This course will provide participants opportunities to deepen understanding of the ‘Ōiwi Edge Expectations but also reflective time to integrate the expectations within their content area, pedagogy, and instructional technology tools. A foundational component of the learning will focus on the Kauhale Commitment through social justice education. Kumu will leave the course with components of a Canvas module which integrates it all!

Ever wonder which technology tool will serve your haumāna the best? This course will examine the key components of instructional design in a digital world and provide some great instructional technology tools to amplify learning in your classroom. Kumu will have opportunities to explore the tools and build/refine current lessons.

How do we use instructional tasks to advance the mathematical thinking of our class? Through whole-class discussions. In this course, kumu will deepen their understanding of Five Practices for Orchestrating Productive Mathematics to foster student engagement and intellectual rigor. Kumu will not only deepen their understanding of a worthwhile task, but have a task ready to implement in the Fall.

We are seeing the fruit of all of our work as language teachers in the increase of haumāna this year that are learning language through the proficiency model of learning and teaching. During this summer PD, kumu will deepen their understanding of the foundational building blocks of a successful proficiency-based language program by exploring the impact of a well-articulated K-12 curriculum. Kumu will have an opportunity to prepare for next year using these building blocks.
