Advancing Learner Agency in Issues Based Learning Pathway
The ʻŌiwi Edge Innovation Process provides haumāna the opportunity to engage their agency and solve real-world problems impacting our lāhui. Through inquiry and critical thinking, haumāna define and investigate problems, analyze, evaluate and synthesize information, develop creative, informed, culturally grounded solutions, and present and defend their work to subject matter experts. Implementing the user-driven, non-linear learning that the ʻŌiwi Edge Innovation Process provides helps haumāna to shape and manage their learning in order to develop crucial mindsets, grounding, and skills they need to solve the world’s greatest problems.

Moʻolelo for Issues Based Learning Pathway
Kumu will grow their understanding of moʻolelo in order to leverage narratives as a tool of empowerment for their haumāna. In turn, kumu will gain confidence and understanding of moʻolelo as an epistemology, a foundational component in ʻŌiwi Edge learning and teaching for E Ola!

Political Action for Kuapapa Nui Pathway
This pathway will empower kumu with a general understanding of the contemporary political system in Hawaiʻi, and empower them with ways to engage in these power structures. A basic understanding of land use and social issues is covered, and ways to empower civic responsibility will be highlighted. Kumu will then encourage political advocacy and direct student participation in the political process in order to affect positive changes for the lāhui and for their communities.

ʻŌiwi Edge Learning & Teaching Pedagogy Pathway
In this pathway, kumu will learn foundational ʻŌiwi Edge Learning & Teaching skills, concepts and strategies, why they work, and how to use them in the classroom. Grounded in ʻike kupuna and educational neuroscience research (Mind, Brain, and Education Science), these ʻŌiwi Edge learning methods will inspire kumu to innovate ways in which they structure units and lessons and personalize learning to the diverse needs of all haumāna. In this unique pathway, kumu will engage with Kanaka ʻŌiwi practitioners to experience these learning tools as a haumāna before developing, innovating, and implementing in their ʻŌiwi Edge classrooms.

ʻŌiwi Edge Independent Innovation Pathway
In this pathway, empowered kumu will generate evidence to guide practice at Kamehameha Hawaiʻi by conducting independent innovation projects inspired by their own wonder. Designed with rigorous inquiry, and relevant to ʻŌiwi Edge learning and teaching, kumu will grow their community of practice by engaging in ʻōiwi methodologies and research, collaborative discussions, and coaching support, all designed to leverage the training and experience of our kumu. This pathway is designed to inspire innovation and inform new promising principles of practice for ʻŌiwi Edge learning and teaching, our campus pathway to the E Ola! learner outcomes.
